We are finally getting all of the beads that I bought in to the showroom at the Arthouse and on to the webpage too. Kay
has really been working on this project. It really helps to have someone keep you on track. So if you love beads and
want to see some real eye candy, check the bead page out, www.dixiearthouse.com

Monday April 14
Still on the lovely San Juan Island. My Brother and I have decided to sell our house here. So if anyone wants a
diamond in the ruff home with a beautiful view. Let me know. Here are some pictures of it.
As for my artwork I've had to put it on hold until I get home, but I've enjoyed the walks on the beach and finding old
treasures that I've found in the cupboards and closets of this house. My mother was an artist and I thought I found all of
her stashes but to my delight I have found more boxes of her work. I'm going to save going through them until I
get home.
I can't believe how fast time flies. Well my goal to write on my blog everyday is not working. Sigh I need to take a
blog writing class. Journal writing class also. I envy the people I saw at Artfest drawing away in there journals. Well I
have a new goal, get my journal finished by next artfest. I promised Tiphoni that I would get it done. (teacher pressure).
What a wonderful teacher, she is going to have a great career. Well I must say something about my other teacher L K Ludwig.
She is also a wonderful teacher, I loved her techniques and her creativity.
I will post my class projects later.
I'm in the San Juans (Friday Harbor) getting the house ready for my brother to come home. He's had some serious medical
problems and will need some help for awhile. Hopefully he will have a full recovery. I love it here but I'm getting homesick
for Rick and my little part of the world in Eastern Washington.
Well here in Eastern Washington we are cold and snowy. sigh I wish I was somewhere warm. This weather doesn't give me
much ambition. I just want to be by the fire and stay warm. I don't feel real creative but I did manage to get some jewelry
done that I had set aside. My web page is getting better and I have some of my shopping cart done. Christmas is coming up
fast and I need to get my shopping done. Don't really want to get out in the cold.

What a windy and blustry day. The snow finally melted but left us with puddles of water. Not a good day for Christmas
shopping but a wonderful day to stay in the studio and catch up on everything. Like writing in my blog and surrounding
me with my wonderful projects. Some finished some asking for a little attention. I've shifted in my direction of just jewelry
and found some art dolls that were begging to be finished. What fun funny little creatures. Here is one that I finished awhile
ago. I have another Christmas Bazaar to attend next Sunday. So anyone reading this that can come to see my artwork.
It is in the little town of Dixie in the hall next to the fire station. Would loved to be surprised and have someone
come say Hi. I make ornaments every year and here is a picture of a few of this years edition.

This year is really going fast. I'm getting ready for an open house at my Dixie Art House and have had to work extra
at my other work for my friend and Co Worker Michele. I don't know about everyone else but this time of season has a wonderful
feeling. The air is getting colder and I feel the tug of wonderful Arizona calling me.
Rick and I travel to the warm zone in Feb. to go to the Bead and Gem show and to relax and enjoy the warm.
My friend Kay has really been working on my website and I have lots of new things listed. Well it's time to go and watch
TV and relax. Before I go here is a necklace that I just sold at Carnigie Art Center. This was made with a door Stricker plate.
I have more of these to come.

I think I'm finally getting this blog thing down. I love reading my friends blogs and now understand why everyone knows
so much about each other. duhhh
What a wonderful way to get an update on everyone. I've even posted comments. Wow how amazing is that?
Well I've been working in my studio all day today and had my art house open. Today I dyed fabric and started
making some dolls for the holidays. Thank you so much Katie Kendrick for the wonderful inspiration. I will post some of the
finished ones soon.
Our local Art Center invited me to submit 10 items for their local Holiday Artfest Showing and now I need to figure out
what to take. They are due the last week of October so I need to get going. So many things I need to finish. Sometimes I wonder
why I commit myself to do these things.
Oct 17
Well I made it back from Art and Soul. It took a week to recover. What fun!!!! I can't say enough about my teachers,
they were so wonderful. I finally got back into my studio and have been taking pictures of my projects. I have two of them
so far. My doll from Katie Kendrick's class and my PMC pendant from Sheri Haab's class. The others need just a few more details
and I will show them off too.
This month is really going fast. We had our last race yesterday here in Walla Walla. I'm done racing for the year but
Rick wants to race in Boise, Idaho. Firebird in the middle of Oct. Halloween Classic. Wonderful place for the kids to visit.
I just updated my etsy.shop with some of my jewelry and purse/cellphone charms. I will have a link added in my Dixiearthouse.com.
Tomorrow I will open the shop and finish my trades for Art and Soul. Hope to see some of my friends in Portland.

I don't know why it is so hard to keep this blog going but I'm going to try to finish out the year with at least something posted
on it each day. Rick and I just finished a week of Divisional finals at Woodburn. (drag racing) And now it's time to get back
to Art work. I have soom of my charms ready for Art and Soul and need to make more. My Special art project is almost ready
for Art and Soul too. I will post some of the charms tomorrow. I have also uploaded some new pictures of my charms that have
been traded to me from Art and Soul 2006 and ArtFest 2007. The link is http://www.kathyreadesigns.com/gallery/id21.html

I received a mail notice that 2 of my items were accepted at our local Juried Art show. Then to my surprise I received
an email that gave me a special invitation because one of my pieces of Art won an award. Well I went there last Friday, had
wonderful conversation with some other artists. My gourd (keeper of Things) won a 75.00 merit award. How wonderful to be among
such great artists and get an award.
I was so tired when I got home, (worked from 7:30 to 5:15) Then to the Art Show from 5:30 to 7:00. I just layed on the
couch and watched reruns.
Saturday was a new day and I opened the Art House had some yard sale items outside and even Rick brought some things
to sell.
I will post the pictures of my Art show entries when I remember to get my camera and go take some pictures of them. (Rome
wasn't built in a day)
I don't know where the time goes but it is already May 27 and I haven't been writing on my blog. I find it hard to write
about myself. I'm getting better. I find it inspiring to read other blogs and love to hear about my other friends and what
they are doing. So this is why I'm making myself write. It is so inspiring and encouraging when I read other blogs and that
is what I want this one to be like.
So what has been going on? I just finished some art work that I took to the local gallery for a juried art show. I
will know if they were accepted next Thursday. So keep your fingers crossed for me. Of course I forgot my camera and don't
have pictures of them but when I get them back I'll post them.
I also went to our local farmers market and got an application to vend there on Saturdays and Sundays.
My art house is getting to look better and better. I just about have the classroom ready to start teaching classes. I
have some local artists interested in teaching and NOW I have to put some classes together. Something that I have been
promising people that I would do. The upstairs apartment is just about ready to use. I'm going to use it for guest artists
and will rent it out for special events in our area. We have a large amount of wineries 65 last count and becoming a big destination
for wine tasting.
Well I have to go finish a few swap projects. Will try to post some of them later.

Well I finished a couple of my new necklaces. The moon necklace has crystals and silver chain. The Dream your Dream has
a silver chain and shell beads. I wire wrap all of this so there is no chance of the ceramic pieces falling. (fingers
crossed) These are going to be fun to make. I have another firing in the kiln so I'm going to have plenty of shards.
Can't wait to open the kiln in the morning it's like Christmas.
Here are the small pieces that I've made for jewelry making. These are going to my etsy store and ebay.
Some will stay with me to make jewelry and some will be placed in my Dixie Art House. Firing more today

Today was a day to catch up on my ceramics. I finished some small pieces for jewelry and to sell at my new etsy
store. I'll try to get some of them scanned so you can see them. Getting all the components ready for some drilled rock jewelry.
It was a day of exploring. Those are the days that you get some new ideas and find better ways to get your rocks drilled.
hmmmm
I uploaded some new pictures on my webpage www.dixiearthouse.com so go take a peek at them too. Oh yeh I also put some items on ebay under Kate769
Have a happy day
